The term "montage of attractions" was coined by Sergei Eisenstein almost one hundred years ago. The Soviet film director believed that presenting scenes logically arranged in a story, wasn't enough. He argued that stories in films should, first and foremost, be told using juxtaposing images. The montage was to enrich the narrative, grabbing and keeping the viewer's interest with its lack of predictability.

Eighteen doctoral students from the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice are presenting their works at the Sky Gallery. Owing to the great diversity in the students' areas of interest and specialisations, the exhibition includes both 2D and 3D designs as well as artworks employing a multitude of different media: from oil paintings, printmaking, and performance through to animation and film. The works are also in a variety of sizes and all refer to the ultimate question in art history: Do we enjoy natural landscapes because we've seen 'similar ones' in artworks, or is it the other way around, and that we enjoy artworks because we've  earlier seen or experienced "similar ones".
